Israel for the YouTube generation

AJC started a video contest a la YouTube called my.israel.com. It is open-ended, non-judgmental, and had a cool format. And the prize is a free trip to Israel and a screening for first place at AJC's annual meeting in front of hundreds of Jewish leaders around the world. Sounds fine.__But it hasn't been easy to find people who submit. That's been interesting... why? Do Jews not know how to make videos on their digital cameras? Hardly.__Here's my thought:_1) on Art: it's easier to make something creative with a much more structured framework, and a lot harder to create from scratch.__2) on Israel: the generation that does YouTube has a hard time defining its authentic relationship to Israel --finding the words and images for "their Israel." We need to find a new language that resonates.__That's part of what this discussion will be about.
